Location: West of Lancaster on the north west coast of England.

Net electrical output: 1230 MW. Heysham 2 is capable of supplying over 1.5 million homes - enough electricity to keep three cities the size of Liverpool supplied during peak loading hours.

Heysham 2 station director: Alan Oulton

Alan joined the CEGB from the merchant navy at Fiddlers Ferry and then worked at a number of power stations in the north west before transferring to the nuclear side of the industry with a short spell at Trawsfynnd and then Heysham 1. He moved to Heysham 2 in 1988, becoming outage manager and ending with a spell on operations as shift charge engineer. He returned to Heysham 1 as maintenance manager in June 2000. Alan moved to Dungeness B in June 2003 as maintenance manager before being appointed to the new plant manager's role in November 2004. In December 2005 he was appointed station director at Dungeness B. Alan was appointed station director of Heysham 2 in July 2009.
